Ferrero wins intellectual property right lawsuit for its Rocher chocolates in China

Jan. 12, 2005 (China Knowledge) – Italian chocolate maker Fererro has won a lawsuit against the Chinese counterfeiter of Rocher, its flagship brand of hazelnut-flavored chocolate, the Financial Times reported.

Reportedly, its Chinese rival, Montresor (Zhangjiagang) Food produced chocolates imprinted with a slightly different logo on the wrapper but apparently identical otherwise. Ferrero said the court ordered the intellectual property right offender to stop its production of the implicated chocolates immediately and pay a compensation of RMB 700,000 to Ferrero.
