Chinas Passenger Car Sales in September Up 36.8% Compared to 2004 The number of Chinas passenger cars sold reached 286,400 in September, 36.8% higher than same period in 2004 and 16.2% higher than August, according to data released by China Passenger Car Association. In September, Shanghai GM ranked first with 31,719 passenger cars sold. Shanghai Volkswagen (26,698), FAW Volkswagen (25,593), Guangzhou Honda (23,100) and Beijing Hyundai (20,500) ranked from second to fifth respectively. Chery and Geely, two major Chinese car makers with their own brands, also had sales above 10,000 cars in September. In September, Chery sold 17,550 cars and Geely sold 10,483 cars. |
